For children aged three months to five years
Fledglings on the Common Preschool and Day Nursery is set in the heart of Wandsworth Common. The nursery has been purpose built and designed to ensure that the building is bright with natural light spilling in through the doors and windows. Designated areas have been created to support and engage children’s learning and individual needs.
Under floor heating is installed throughout, whilst the extensive outside play area can be accessed directly off the main playroom including our forest area. Children have free access to the outside play area, where they can exercise and explore the natural environment safely.
We aim to…
- Provide a safe and stimulating environment where children from 3 months to 5 years can explore and develop trust and form friendships.
- Ensure that children are treated as individuals.
- Give children an opportunity to make their own choices and become independent through a variety of play and learning experiences.
- Promote a key person system to assess children and keep parents informed of their child’s progress.
- Encourage parent/carer involvement through sharing skills.
- Provide an appropriate curriculum built on play activities and children’s interests to promote learning.
Preschool and nursery
We offer 32 places, both full and part time, for babies and children from 3 months to 5 years of age.
Funded childcare
We offer places for children accessing the educational grant for 15 or 30 hours per week.

The nursery is open on an all-year-round basis.
